House System
The role of the House System at St. Nicholas is to further the mission of the school. The House System strengthens the collaboration and sense of collaboration for all learners through a range of sporting and non-sporting experiences.
Aims and Objectives
- To strengthen each learner's interpersonal relationship skills, learner profile, attitudes and attributes.
- The system enables students to proactively develop their own leadership skills.
- To provide a safe and guided structure for children to learn to manage their emotions in a range of situations, such as sporting, academic and creative arts competitions.
- To encourage teamwork and sportsmanship and to foster respect for each other in the process.
- In Primary and Secondary School, each house appoints House Captains, whose role it is to rally fellow house-members and to organise individuals for team events. Secondary House Captains organise and run House assemblies, where they promote upcoming events to their house.
At St. Nicholas School there are three Houses:
Cambridge | Oxford | London
From Grade 2 up, all pupils are placed in one of the three houses, ensuring a balance of pupils and pupil gender in each of the houses.
Immediate (siblings and cousins) family members are placed in the same house.
Each house is led by a Head of House (teacher), a House Captain and a House Vice-Captain (pupils).
