Educational Programs at St. Nicholas Alphaville - SP

Early Years

18 months to 6 years old

Tiny Tots’ Program (18 months to 3 years old): At Tiny Tots, children find a safe and stimulating environment where they develop trusting bonds with friends and teachers. Exploring indoor and outdoor spaces, such as natural gardens, fosters curiosity and love for learning from an early age.

Early Years (3 to 6 years old): In the first years, the children learn through play and develop social and cognitive skills in carefully designed environments. They are encouraged to investigate, create, and communicate creatively, while they experiment with immersive learning in English, guided by qualified teachers and based on the IB Curriculum, PYP (Primary Years Programme).

Primary Years

6 to 11 years old

Investigative and Global Curriculum In Primary School (1st to 5th year), the students aged 6 to 11 continue their educational journey through the PYP (Primary Years Programme), an investigative curriculum that prepares them to be lifelong learners in a globalized society. They explore six transdisciplinary themes of global significance:

  • Who we are.
  • Where we are in space and time.
  • How we express ourselves.
  • How the world works.
  • How we organize ourselves.
  • Sharing the planet.

 

Our international curriculum fosters critical thinking and active learning and each child has a personalized experience. Primary School culminates with a global survey presented at the 5th Year Exhibition.

Secondary Years

11 to 16 years old

St. Nicholas Middle Years (Years 6 to 10), for students aged 11 to 16, offers the IB MYP (Middle Years Programme) curriculum, which is rigorous and interdisciplinary, placing students at the center of their education. They explore connections between subjects like Math, Science, Humanities, Arts, and more, applying learning to the real world, with:

  • Holistic Education
  • Innovative Learning Environments
  • Personal and Leadership Development.

IB Diploma Program

16 to 18 years old

Offered to students from 16 to 18, the IB Diploma Program at St. Nicholas Alphaville, accredited in May 2024, prepares students for world-renowned universities. With a rigorous and inclusive curriculum, the program allows students to personalize their learning journey. The curriculum includes six subjects and the “Core”, which covers the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS).

Students choose three Higher Level subjects and three Standard Level subjects, with an offer of 25 subjects. The program prepares students for world-renowned universities, developing critical and practical skills that stand out in the job market and academic life.

Early Years

18 months to 6 years old

Early Years at St. Nicholas combines a dynamic curriculum with inquiry and play to support children’s development.

Tiny Tots Program (18 months to 3 years): We provide a safe and welcoming environment, promoting the exploration and development of social and language skills through play and interactions with nature.

Early Years Program (3 to 6 years): At this stage, children explore and learn through play, in organized spaces that foster curiosity and independence. They also develop creative communication skills and understanding of the world in imaginative and responsive environments, while experiencing immersive learning in English, guided by qualified teachers and based on the IB curriculum, PYP (Primary Years Programme).

Primary Years

6 to 11 years old

Primary Years at St. Nicholas is based on the IB curriculum, PYP (Primary Years Programme) which focuses on inquiry and explores global transdisciplinary themes. Students develop skills and concepts through the following themes:

  • Who we are.
  • Where we are in space and time.
  • How we express ourselves.
  • How the world works.
  • How we organize ourselves.
  • Sharing the planet.

 

Active inquiry and research are central, allowing students to develop deep and lasting understanding. Each student receives a personalized learning experience, and the journey culminates with a Year 5 survey, where they present their findings to the school community.

Secondary Years

11 to 16 years old

In Secondary Years, students consolidate their learning with an international and challenging curriculum, combining the IB philosophy and the University of Cambridge’s IGCSE. The program is enriched by the “4 Peaks” (Passion, Pairs, Project, and Play), allowing the exploration of global themes such as environment and health. Students participate in transdisciplinary investigations, develop research and presentation skills, and are prepared for academic and practical challenges.

The curriculum includes courses in different languages, science, mathematics, and humanities, and culminates in the globally recognized IGCSE qualification. Extracurricular activities and trips offer practical and enriching experiences, promoting personal and academic development.

IB Diploma Program

16 to 18 years old

Offered since 2000, the IB Diploma Program at St. Nicholas is inclusive and challenging, with a pass rate of over 90% and an average of 32 to 33 points, above the global average. The curriculum includes six subjects and the “Core”, which covers the Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS).

Students choose three Higher Level subjects and three Standard Level subjects, from the 46 subjects offered. The program prepares students for world-renowned universities, developing critical and practical skills that stand out in the job market and academic life.
